|Countdown to Shonen Jump Crisis...

...or at least Shonen Jump Championship Columbus.|
Yours truly has secured a ride and hotel stay with some fellow YuGiOh nerds as we will meet and play against other players from other states and possibly other countries in the second Shonen Jump Championship of this new format season. Formats change every six months with certain cards becoming restricted or outright banned and sometimes formerly banned cards come back. If you remember that Dark Armed Dragon card I linked to a few posts ago...that card has single handedly become the defining force of the game the likes that have not been seen since we have had Black Luster Soldier ~ Envoy of the Beginning around. When that card was out...everybody who could afford it or owned it played it. The same is happening with Dark Armed Dragon...and I love it. I love overpowered cards that cost an arm and a leg and I love hearing people complain that this is an expensive game and blah blah. First and foremost...with any TCG its a business. The company is looking to make money...it wants the secondary market to make money and it wants you the fan to continue to buy its product so both markets are happy. Yes they care about you...hence why they reprint stuff a bit later. So if you don't have Dark Armed Dragons by now...you either aren't looking for any or aren't trying.
Anyways...I'll be in Columbus, Ohio this weekend attending this championship...hoping to finally fucken make the top brackets for a day 2 appearance and possibly win one. I hate that each time I've gone to one of these events I come oh so close and its snatched away or I draw incredibly craptastic hands that make me lose and discourage me from playing. I'm hungry for this...and people have been saying this is my format. I've been heavily consistent in local events and tournaments (the bunnies J_J can attest to this as they have been to a few to watch and cheer me on...and by cheering I mean sit at a table with their laptops :P)
I'll be taking a variant of the Dark Armed Dragon deck inspired by my good buddy Akuma who is friended on my LJ. Akuma...I promise I will credit you with the deck if its profiled or put in a feature...and even if I possibly win the thing...which I want to more than anything else right now. Even more than pie.
Just one SJ win please...just one so that I can finally put down the sword with the biggest personal competitive card gaming win I can reasonably achieve. I will still have YGO as a hobby...but nothing more. No more worrying about ranking or points or whatnot.
Just one SJ win...
